My work in Healing Arts aims to stimulate and enrich the lives of patients whilst they are in hospital or in care. I do this by telling stories, carefully chosen so as to be refreshing and uplifting, and also thought provoking.
The sessions are very informal, patients or residents sitting round a table in the dayroom. In the discussion that follows patients are encouraged to take part and contribute their thoughts if they want to. I often use music and sometimes show illustrations.
I am available for Healing Arts storytelling sessions wherever they may be a need. If you would like more information or to book a session, please contact me.
Feedback from hospital sessions:
“Enjoyed it very much. Eleanor has a way of telling a story”
“Our patients have really benefited from Eleanor’s visits. It really lifts their spirits and takes their mind away from the hospital for a short time. Eleanor is very animated and her thumb piano creates a fantastic atmosphere. Now when I tell patients about her visit I know they’ll be lots wanting to come and join in.”
“Loved every moment will come again.”
“Found it very enjoyable, inspiring, very helpful as far as my health is concerned as I have not been able to get out for seven years.”
This set of five pictures was commissioned by the Healing Arts charity at University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire which works within the hospital. The pictures have been printed as a booklet to distribute to patients. They are also for sale in Eleanor’s Shop as a set of greetings cards.
